Interim Pastor Ministries Membership Process
Step 1:
Upon request, we will email an Interim Pastor Ministries information packet including: 1. A letter of introduction from IPM Director of Promotion and Partnerships, Todd Musser, which outlines the membership process and when it is appropriate to submit a résumé for review. 2. Additional background information on IPM. 3. The IPM Minimum Standards for membership. 4. An IPM digital brochure. Please be aware that IPM is looking for experienced, seasoned, mature evangelical pastors to serve evangelical churches (both independent and those from a variety of evangelical denominations) currently undergoing a pastoral transition. Pastors must be at least age 50 and have at least 15 years of pastoral experience to be considered. Experience in lay leadership, church administration, small group/teaching ministries, and secular career experience does not qualify. We believe God calls experienced pastors to this specialized ministry. This is not a ministry for those seeking to secure a permanent position as a settled pastor, temporary work between full-time positions, or 'testing the water' to determine what one's ministry fit might be. This ministry is of an intentional nature and focused on church health and revitalization during the season of pastoral transition. It is not to be equated with 'pulpit supply' or the availability to 'fill in' on occasion within a defined geographical area. Step 2:If, after reviewing the information emailed to you in Step 1. you are certain you meet or exceed the Minimum Standards for membership, you may submit your current, complete résumé for review. IPM Senior Director Pastor and Church Engagement, Todd Musser, will review your résumé to confirm eligibility. Todd will invite those with good placement potential in the type of evangelical churches IPM typically serves to attend an upcoming IPM two-day "Intro to Interim Ministry" training session. Completion of this training is a prerequisite to IPM membership.
Step 3:The complete packet of IPM application materials is automatically emailed to all those who have completed the 'Intro' training. The packet is typically available immediately after training concludes. Those who are sensing a call to intentional interim ministry and who desire to serve and be placed through IPM, are invited to apply by completing and submitting all required IPM application documents. These typically include:
1. IPM Application Form 2. A résumé formatted in the required IPM template which will be provided 3. Two sample sermons (audio or video) - online link preferred 4. IPM Membership Policies Form 5. IPM Reimbursement Policies Form 6. Acceptance of IPM Policies Form 7. A Church Restoration Assessment 8. IPM Housing Allowance Form Step 4:In addition to the thorough completion of the required Application Forms, you will be asked to provide letters of reference from denominational leaders under whom you have served, as well as undergo a background check. All documentation is then compiled and reviewed by various IPM administrative and leadership personnel and undergoes appropriate internal due-diligence. If approved, the applicant and documentation are forwarded to the IPM Board of Directors for a vote. If receiving a unanimous affirmative vote, the applicant is then welcomed into IPM membership and becomes available for consideration to be placed in IPM-contracted churches.

"Our church didn't realize how much we needed Dr. Edward Veldhuizen's loving but firm guidance. He had been recommended to us by Dr. Arnold Conrad of Interim Pastor Ministries and by our area representative. We had been without a pastor for almost four months and felt the cohesiveness of our congregation dissolving. Arnie Conrad was always available and helpful as we committed to hiring an interim pastor. He and IPM made it easy and affordable for our church. Pastor Ed and Janis, his wonderful wife, brought relief from the moment they arrived. The congregation could not help but love them both as they reached out to everyone. Pastor Veldhuizen has more energy and enthusiasm than people half his age. His love for Jesus Christ, godly wisdom, and experience guided our lost church back to a sure course and laid the foundation needed for our next pastor. We are so thankful to God and IPM for sending us just the right man for the job and for the lasting fruit of his labors."
