The IPM Intentional Process

The interim period is the optimal time in the life of a church to prepare it for its future. The tool that we can provide to help your church strengthen during this "in between" season is the IPM Intentional Process. Our interims are trained to guide you through assessment and planning steps that can strengthened your church immensely.

This process involves forming a "Transition Team" that will assist the Interim Pastor. This is usually comprised of your existing leadership, other emerging leaders and key workers. Your goal will be to work through the 4 developmental tasks listed below.  This process can improve your church's health, effectiveness and its ability to secure a pastor who is a "best fit" for your church -- one who will have a long and effective ministry with you.

The Four Developmental Tasks

1. Looking Back: Coming to Terms with the Church’s History
2. Looking Around: Assessing Leadership/Worker Needs, Organizational Needs and Church Health
3. Looking Inward: Clarifying the Congregation’s Identity
4. Looking Forward: Searching for and Committing to New Pastoral Leadership and the Future

As part of the Intentional Process, the strengths of the church will be affirmed and the needs of the church recognized.

In order to prepare the church for an effective future, your IPM Interim Pastor can also help you with one or several of these potential needs:

• Leadership Development
• Vision Casting
• Strategic Planning
• Problem Solving
• Conflict Resolution
• Peacemaking

"Our church has deeply appreciated 'Interim Pastor Ministry.' You sent us Pastor Abel Threeton, and he has been such a blessing to us this past year. Our church had just gone through some pretty tough times with several families leaving our small congregation. Well, Pastor Threeton was like 'oil on troubled waters.' He helped reestablish peace and tranquility within our church through God's help, and he will be deeply missed as he leaves us now.

"Thank you so much for your wonderful ministry of using these wise, experienced ministers to help churches like ours through tough times. We would definitely consider using your ministry again in the future! God bless you!"
